The 10th Graduation Ceremony of Turkish-German University was held in a festive atmosphere on June 26, 2026. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences, together with the esteemed faculty members and research assistants of our department, as well as our students and their families.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Elif Posos Devrani and Research Assistant İrem Dölen from the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences at Turkish-German University participated in an academic visit to Munich between 2–5 June 2026 as part of a delegation that also included Prof. Dr. Müge Klein, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Çatak, and research assistants Zehra Halhallı, Umur Ejder Halhallı, Esra Erarslan, and Merve Ahter Dede from the Department of Business Administration.

The third issue of TALKİ, the Turkish-German Culture and Communication Journal prepared with the creative contributions of students from the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences, has been published.

İrem Dölen, a student of our International Communication and Media Research (ICMR) Master's Program and research assistant of our department, successfully defended her thesis titled ''Strategic Social Media Use under Algorithmic Curation: A Comparative Study of Student Practices in Turkey and Germany'' on May 22, 2026.
Our Department of Cultural and Communication Sciences Has Been Accredited by FEDEK
Following an evaluation conducted by the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences at our university, our Department of Culture and Communication Sciences has been accredited by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Curricula in the Faculties of Science, Letters, Science and Letters, and Language, History, and Geography (FEDEK) for the period from May 13, 2026 – September 30, 2028.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Elif Posos Devrani appeared as a guest on “Doğruluk Elçileri”, broadcast on CNN Türk. The program, supported by the EU Delegation to Türkiye and moderated by Prof. Dr. Nezih Orhon, focused on the experience of parenting in the digital age.

The second event in the “Culture and Literature Talks” series was held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 13:30 in the Conference Hall of the School of Foreign Languages. The speaker of the event, organized by our department, was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Habib Tekin, a faculty member of the Department of German Language and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Marmara University. The program was moderated by Research Assistant Ayşenur Özkan Işık and Research Assistant Dr. İpek Kesici.

Res. Asst. İrem Dölen, a research assistant from our department, participated in the second session of the “Zeka ve Zincir” event series, which focuses on current discussions on artificial intelligence and algorithms. The event, which brought together different disciplines, addressed the impacts of AI and algorithmic systems across finance, law, public governance, and academia from a multidimensional perspective.

New Editorial Team of the TALKİ Turkish-German Journal of Culture and Communication Announced
The new editorial team of the TALKİ Turkish-German Journal of Culture and Communication has been appointed. The journal is prepared with the contributions of students from the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences and coordinated by Asst. Prof. Başak Kaptan Şiray and Dr. Dilara Tekrin.

The second issue of the TALKİ Turkish-German Journal of Culture and Communication, prepared with the creative contributions of students from the Department of Cultural and Communication Sciences, has been published. The journal was prepared under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Başak Kaptan Şiray and Asst. Prof. Dilara Tekrin, and brought to readers by our student Editor-in-Chief Sümeyye Saniye Köse and the editorial team.
A Double Major Program Has Been Established Between the Departments of Cultural and Communication Sciences and Sociology
By the decision of the Senate of the Turkish-German University dated 05 March 2026 and numbered 2026/29, it has been decided to establish a reciprocal Double Major Program between the Department of Cultural and Communication Sciences and the Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences.
Research Colloquium Held at the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences
The Research Colloquium organized by the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences at the Turkish-German University took place on 4 March 2026 with the participation of faculty members and research assistants. The Department of Culture and Communication Sciences also actively participated in the meeting.

The meeting titled “Accessible University” was held on 18 February 2026 at the Conference Hall of the School of Foreign Languages, organized by the University’s Disabled Student Unit.
Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya, a faculty member of our department, has been awarded the title of Associate Professor by the Interuniversity Board.
In addition to the departmental meeting held on 04 February 2026, a celebration was organized in honor of Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya, a faculty member of the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences, on the occasion of her promotion to the rank of Associate Professor.
